Dough:
- ¼ cup warm water
- 1 tsp traditional active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp sugar, plus a pinch
- 1 egg, divided
- 4 tbsp butter, divided
- 2 ½ cups + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp kosher salt, divided
Filling:
- 2 cups baby arugula, loosely packed
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves, loosely packed
- 3 minced garlic cloves, divided
- ¼ tsp pepper
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 150 g boursin cheese
- ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Activate the Yeast: Mix warm water, a pinch of sugar, and yeast. Let it activate.
- Prepare the Dough: Combine milk, sugar, beaten egg, melted butter with yeast mixture. Add flour and salt. Mix until dough forms.
- Rise the Dough: Knead, let rise for 1-1.5 hours.
- Make the Filling: Process arugula, basil, garlic, lemon zest, salt, pepper. Add boursin cheese.
- Assemble: Roll out dough circles, layer with filling, and parmesan cheese. Shape into a star.
- Bake: Let rise, brush with egg wash, bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: Melt butter, sauté garlic, add parsley. Brush over warm bread.
