Dough:

  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve Yeast: In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix Dough: Add flour, melted butter, and salt to the bowl. Mix until the dough comes together. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Shape Breadsticks: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a breadstick shape.
  6. Second Rise: Place breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Prepare Garlic Butter: While the breadsticks are baking, mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt.
  9. Brush with Garlic Butter: Brush the hot breadsticks with the garlic butter mixture right after they come out of the oven.
  10. Serve: Serve warm and enjoy!
