Cake:
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups mashed cooked sweet potatoes (about 2 medium)
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup whole milk or buttermilk

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
