These Easy Cauldron Cookies are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween parties or spooky gatherings. Made with devil’s food cake mix, these cookies are filled with a creamy buttercream potion and adorned with spooky decorations for a delightfully eerie touch.

For the Cookies:

  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box Devil’s Food cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • black food coloring (optional)

For the Buttercream:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 13 tablespoons milk
  • green food coloring

For Decorating:

  • Round green sprinkles
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Pretzel sticks

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease three 12-count mini muffin pans.
  2. Mix the cake mix, eggs, canola oil, and black food coloring (if using) in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Scoop about 1/2 tablespoon of dough into the mini muffin pans and flatten with your fingers.
  4. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then press an indentation into each warm cookie using a measuring spoon. Let cool.
  5. Make the buttercream by beating butter until creamy, then gradually adding powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Mix in milk and green food coloring.
  6. Pipe the buttercream into the cookie cups to resemble a bubbling potion.
  7. Decorate with sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and pretzel sticks as stirrers.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
