Ingredients

Scale

Steak:

  • 1 lb. steak (sirloin or ribeye)

Potato Mixture:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Broth and Seasonings:

  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Garnish (optional):

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the Steak: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the steak from the pot and set aside.
  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same pot, add the butter and sauté the onion and garlic for about 3 minutes until soft and fragrant.
  3. Cook the Potatoes: Add the potatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine, then bring to a simmer. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
  4. Finish the Soup: Cut the cooked steak into small cubes and add it back into the pot. Stir in the heavy cream and let the soup simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Serve: Adjust seasoning as needed and serve hot, garnished with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

  • You can customize this soup by adding your favorite vegetables like carrots or celery.
  • For a thicker soup, you can mash some of the potatoes against the side of the pot to release their starch.
